Gwynne Shotwell
From SpaceWiki
Gwynne Shotwell was a natural choice for President of SpaceX, since she helped lay the groundwork for the NewSpace industry as we know it. According to her SpaceX bio, while working at The Aerospace Corporation (whose sole purpose is to do space-related research for the U.S. government), she managed an FAA study focusing on commercial space transportation, and did policy analysis on what NASA's future direction should look like. On a state level, she has also worked with the California Space Authority, a major advocacy organization which has been charged by the state government with helping to develop local spaceports.
Shotwell also has substantial engineering experience, originally with Chrysler Motors (according to her California Space Authority bio), and then with Aerospace Corporation as Chief Engineer on a satellite program. And in addition to the political and technical sides, she has managed business development for both SpaceX and Microcosm, Inc.
